Launch of Stucco Moulding Heritage Playcraft Kit & Stucco Wall Art Workshop in collaboration with VVM’s Vidya Vikas Academy, Margao – MoCA

On 28th August 2024, MoCA launched its second Heritage Playcraft Kit inspired by Stucco Moulding. With art, history and education at their heart, this series of Do-It-Yourself (DIY) art educational kits aim to foster artistic skills, cultural awareness and creativity among young minds. The primary goal of these kits is to provide an engaging and educational activity for children and adults alike that aligns with the mission of the Museum of Christian Art- to educate and sensitise individuals to Goa’s unique history, heritage, culture and ecology.
The Stucco Moulding Playcraft Kit was launched in a Stucco Wall Art workshop that took place in VVM’s Vidya Vikas Academy, Margao. Students embarked on a creative journey into the world of stucco guided by Gunjan Mitra, who introduced them to traditional techniques and historical uses, including examples from Roman, Islamic, Mesopotamian, and Egyptian art. The workshop also explored stucco found in Goa’s historic churches. In the hands-on session led by Firuza Rodrigues, students created their own stucco pieces, drawing inspiration from the rich patterns of historical and sacred spaces. Moreover, each student received the Stucco Moulding Heritage Playcraft Kit, giving them the chance to explore and practise these techniques beyond the workshop.
