20th September, 2025 was the day of re-opening of ‘Lighthouse’. After months of anticipation, the Archdiocese of Goa & Daman has officially reopened its store of religious goods, articles, books and gifts in Vasco, welcoming parishioners and pilgrims alike to a renewed space of devotion facilitation.
Located within the complex of St. Andrew’s Parish Church, Lighthouse has long served as a spiritual hub, offering sacred articles, liturgical items, gifts, and books that reflect the rich heritage of the Church. The reopening ceremony, was held on 20 September, 2025, and was marked by blessing from the Auxiliary Bishop Most Rev. Simiao Purificacao Fernandes, who praised the store’s role in “illuminating hearts and homes with the light of Christ.” The store also received good wishes through the presence of Committee for the Lighthouse consisting of Fr. Noel D’ Costa, Fr. Ancy D’ Cunha, Fr. Dyrel Dias, Mr. Anand and also other priests, Fr. Seby Vaz, Fr. Mario Souza, Fr. Myron Jason Barreto, Fr. Simon D’Cunha, Fr. Myron Fernandes, Fr. Rony, Fr. Francisco, Fr. Roblan, Fr. Blaise Lobo and many other religious sisters.
The newly refurbished store features expanded collections of rosaries, statues, vestments, and handcrafted items from local artisans, as well as a dedicated section for youth and catechetical materials. Fr. Jovial Fernandes, Convener of the Lighthouse said that the redesign was inspired by the store’s mission to be “a beacon of faith in everyday life.”
