The Museum of Christian Art (MoCA) will host “Odyssey of the Rupee: From India to the World” on 14 August 2026 at 6:30 p.m. at the MoCA Knowledge Centre, Convent of St. John of God, Old Goa.
Paul Abraham, founder of Sarmaya, will trace the 500-year journey of the rupee across India and beyond. Drawing from Sarmaya’s landmark exhibition and publication curated by Dr. Shailendra Bhandare, the session reveals how a single coin can uncover layered histories of trade, empire, and identity. The talk will be followed by a conversation with Dr. Anthony de Sa, former Chief Secretary of Madhya Pradesh and President of the MoCA Managing Committee.
This special evening, on the eve of Independence Day, invites you all to reflect on history through the lens of currency.
