Synodal Journey Continues in the Archdiocese
The representatives from diverse walks of life of the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman gathered together on 9th March 2024 for the Second Phase of the process of Reflection and Discernment on the Synthesis Report of the First Session of the XVI Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops held in October 2023. The 93 participants consisted of the Archbishop, Vicar General, Episcopal Vicars, Youth, Seminarians, Deacons, Priests, Men and Women Religious, Lay Faithful which had members who were Professionals, Teachers. Catechists, those belonging to various Associations, etc. They were divided into 12 groups which were named after 12 fruits of the Holy Spirit. The modality of ‘Conversation in the Spirit’ was followed for Reflection and discernment on each of the questions given in the Worksheet. To signify Fundamental Equality of the People of God no titles like Fr. Sr. Ms. etc. were given to the participants.
Sr. Musela and Mr. Benjamin coordinated the Registration. Mr. Merwyn and Fr. Jorge conducted the Enthronement of the Word service and set the right tone for the whole process. Fr. Simião taking cue from the 3 main parts of the Synthesis Report welcomed the august gathering. The Archbishop in his address shared his experiences as a participant in the Synod Assembly and gave some valuable insights to journey in Synodality. Ms. Gail, Mr. Deron and Fr. Leo gave orientation to the participants and explained the manner in which the whole process would take place in the groups. Mr. Celso proposed the Vote of Thanks and Mr. Benjamin led the concluding prayer. The whole program ended with fellowship lunch.
Earlier, from January 21st to February 21st, the first phase of the Process of Reflection and Discernment was held at five levels, namely, Lay Faithful, Youth, Seminarians, Clerics and CRI and 162 representatives took part in the same and representatives of these five levels participated in the Second Phase.
