The Western Region Youth Council Meet Report 2022
The WRYC organized their annual meeting on 19th–20th March, 2022, in the Sindhudurg diocese. Eight dioceses participated in the gathering and unfortunately due to the pre-synodal meet on 18th-19th March in Goa, the Goan youth delegates who were also involved in the same could make it only on the second day of the WRYC meet.
Once at the venue, Fr. Allwin, the western Region Director initiated everyone into the intricacies of the Council elections which was the main agenda of the gathering. He briefed the youngsters about the procedure along with the responsibilities of the various posts. The elections then got going with some fierce battles for the various positions but all in the right spirit. Mr. Jayesh from Ahmedabad was elected as the WRYC president and our very own, Mr. Adriel Mascarenhas was elected as the media Secretary.
His Excellency Bishop Alwyn Barreto gave a token of appreciation to all the Ex-Council members including, Miss. Stefny Cardoz from Goa, who was a part of the WRYC 2020-22. After capturing these beautiful moments and a little celebration of sorts, we had our lunch followed by a much-needed siesta. We finally drove back home to Goa with a memorable experience to cherish especially as we had met at the western region forum after a long break due to the pandemic.
