Our Archdiocesan Website has been redesigned. And that is certainly good news. I heartily welcome this initiative of our Diocesan Centre for Social Communications Media. This revamping, I am told, aims at making the website more user-friendly and reachable to a much greater number of ‘netizens.’
Artificial Intelligence is “radically affecting the world of information and communication, and through it, certain foundations of life in society,” said Pope Francis in his 58th World Communications Day message, adding that “these changes affect everyone.” …. “How can we remain fully human and guide this cultural transformation to serve a good purpose?” is the question that the Pope poses to every one of us.
Our Diocesan Communications Centre, through its regular dispatches and, particularly, through its media education programmes, helps the faithful precisely to reflect on the ever-evolving media and technological advances, so that they may use them ‘to serve a good purpose.’ Through the use of the media and public relations, the Centre helps us to build bridges and connect with one another in our Archdiocese and beyond.
As I wish the Diocesan Centre for Social Communications Media all the best in its endeavours ‘to build a communion of communities,’ that being its vision, I take this occasion to invite all the faithful to make the best use of the media and of the opportunities at their disposal in order to ‘remain fully human’ and to channel this ‘cultural transformation’ in order to ‘serve a good purpose.’

“Artificial intelligence and wisdom of the heart: for a fully human communication” is the theme chosen by Pope Francis for the 58th World Communication Day, in 2024.
While announcing the theme the Holy See Press Office observed that “The evolution of artificial intelligence systems makes it ever more natural to communicate through and with machines, so that it has become increasingly difficult to distinguish computation from thought, and the language produced by a machine from that generated by human beings.”
The statement continues: “… It is important to guide artificial intelligence and algorithms, so that there is in each individual a responsible awareness of the use and development of these different forms of communication that go hand in hand with social media and the Internet. It is necessary for communication to be oriented towards a fuller life of the human person.”
As we redesign this website of the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman we would like to point out that with these fast paced developments in Social media and now with the emergence of AI we may have to constantly keep on updating the same. As we keep up with the pace of developments our endeavour to create a communion of Communities in the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman through a judicious use of Social Communications Media, will move on.
Through this website we intend to bring in one place all important information of the Archdiocese or at least create a platform to get connected to various centres, offices etc. to get the necessary information. This endeavour is an evolving and continuous process which require time and support from every like-minded individual. We thank God, Our Archbishop, Auxiliary Bishop and all those who have helped us in this endeavour. May the Triune God, The Greatest communicator, be our Guide always.
