Conclusion of the Bible Course at Saligão
Our Lady, Mother of God Parish, Saligão organized a Bible Course on New Testament on every Wednesday from July 2023 to February 2024 in view of 150 years Jubilee of their Church. The course was conducted by the Diocesan Centre for Biblical Apostolate, Goa and Daman (DCBA). The course was attended by the parishioners from Saligão, Calangute, Nagoa (Bardez), Vagator, Candolim and Reis Magos.
At the conclusion of the course a Thanksgiving Mass and the Distribution of Diploma Certificates followed by a short programme was held on 16th March, 2024. Fr. Deniz Fernandes, Parish Priest of Our Lady, Mother of God Church, Saligão and Episcopal Vicar, North was the Main Celebrant and Fr. Mariano D\’Costa, Director, DCBA, Fr. Orlando Marques, Parish Priest of Holy Magi Church, Reis Magos and Fr. Elroy da Gama, Asst. Parish Priest of Our Lady, Mother of God Church, Saligão were the concelebrants. The theme for the Eucharistic celebration was: “Remain in my Word” (Jn. 8:31). Fr. Elroy in his well-crafted homily urged the congregation to remain rooted in the Word of God to be authentic and true disciples of Jesus walking together as pilgrims of hope. 97 participants who had successfully completed the Bible Course received the Diploma Certificate at the hands of Fr. Deniz.
Fr. Mariano congratulated the participants and their families who supported them throughout the Bible Course. In his words of gratitude, Fr. Mariano thanked the Archbishop His Eminence Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferrão for his constant guidance and support. He thanked Fr. Deniz for taking the initiative to organize the Bible Course and rendering his full support throughout the course. He appreciated Fr. Elroy for meticulous planning and executing the logistics of the course and the Thanksgiving Mass. Fr. Deniz in his turn congratulated the participants and appreciated Fr. Mariano for his dedication to conduct the course. He also appreciated Fr. Elroy for his valuable contribution in the organization of the course. He wholeheartedly thanked the lay faithful who closely collaborated in this noble task. Ms. Janie Crasto shared her experience of the course. Fr. Elroy proposed the vote of thanks and Mr. Cruz A. Misquita compered the programme. Indeed this was a fitting course to mould and inspire us to be a Synodal Church and pilgrims of hope!!
