Served with Stories – An Anglo – Indian Dining Experience, MoCA

The Museum of Christian Art (MoCA), Old Goa, presents Served with Stories: An Anglo-Indian Dining Experience, an immersive evening that brings together cuisine, culture, and conversation within the evocative setting of a 17th-century heritage convent. This unique event explores the rich and layered legacy of Anglo-Indian heritage through a thoughtfully curated sit-down dining experience interwoven with engaging narratives. The event also serves as a fundraising initiative in support of the MoCA Knowledge Centre – Library Project.

The evening features Chef Andrea Crizzle, founder of Andy’s Khana, whose culinary practice is deeply rooted in her upbringing in the tea plantations of North Bengal and Assam. Drawing from cherished family recipes and colonial culinary traditions, she presents a menu that reflects the distinctive flavours of Anglo-Indian and plantation-style cuisine, offering guests an opportunity to savour a cuisine shaped by history, migration, and memory.

Complementing the dining experience is Andre Shackleton, a corporate trainer and speaker of Anglo-Indian descent, who brings a deeply personal perspective to the conversation. With family roots spanning generations of service in the Indian Armed Forces dating back to World War II, as well as a longstanding association with the Indian Railways, Shackleton offers insights into the evolution, diversity, and lived experiences of Anglo-Indian communities across India.

Together, the evening unfolds as a seamless blend of food and storytelling, where each course is accompanied by reflections on identity, heritage, and cultural exchange. Set against the historic backdrop of the MoCA Knowledge Centre at the Convent of St. John of God, Old Goa, the event invites participants to engage with a living legacy that continues to shape contemporary narratives.

Served with Stories is part of MoCA’s ongoing efforts to create meaningful experiences that connect audiences with history through innovative and engaging formats. With limited seating, the event offers an intimate and memorable exploration of Anglo-Indian culture, where every dish tells a story.
