Ekvottachi Sanz in Bicholim – An evening to remember the days of old
Our Lady of Grace Church, Bicholim celebrated Ekvottachi Sanz (Evening of Unity) on the occasion of the Feast of Our Lady of Assumption and Independence day with the participation of all parishioners, young and old. Several traditional sweets such as Patoleo, Donne, Sannas, Mandos, Goddxem, Alle-belle, Goan Soji prepared by the parishioners were on display. It was an occasion of all families of several Somudais of Bicholim Parish to get together to prepare these traditional items, which are sometimes quite forgotten in our modern families, in an era when most of the younger generation are used to fast foods.
The evening witnessed a variety of entertainment programmes, such as portrayal of the role of freedom fighters wherein young children dressed as freedom fighters walked on the stage and uttered the famous words said by these great freedom fighters. Several youngsters also participated in the display of traditional occupations. Young and the elderly of several Somudais participated in the traditional dances.
Also traditional games were played by the young and the elderly, taking one back to the olden days, when there were no mobiles and smartphones and everyone played outdoors and remained healthy forever. It was really an evening to remember our old forgotten days.
