The celebrations began with a warm welcome to His Eminence Cardinal Filipe Neri Ferrão by the parish youth at 4:00 p.m. This was followed by the solemn Holy Eucharistic Celebration presided over by His Eminence, in the presence of priests, religious sisters, and parishioners.
In his homily, His Eminence urged everyone to deepen their relationship with Christ and the Holy Eucharist. His message beautifully reflected the theme of the Golden Jubilee: “Jezunt Rigun Ravum-ia, Bhavartacho Bhangaracho Utsov Somarombhum-ia” — Abide in Jesus; let us celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Faith.
As part of the celebrations, His Eminence planted a sapling, symbolising growth, hope, and a lasting legacy for future generations. He also graced the cultural programme as the Chief Guest and inaugurated it by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Rev Fr. Tomas Lobo (Episcopal Vicar) Rev. Fr. Peter Gama (Dean) Mr. Joshua attended as the Guest of Honour, while Mr. Vikas Arolkar, MLA, also graced the occasion with his presence.
The occasion was made even more memorable by the release of the Golden Jubilee Souvenir, the presentation of mementoes, the launch of the parish website, the screening of a documentary, and the presentation of the Golden Jubilee theme song, “Bhangara Utsov Sontosan Monouia,” written by our dynamic Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Luis Xavier Gomes. These initiatives beautifully showcased the parish’s rich heritage, unity, and gratitude for fifty years of blessings.
The cultural programme added colour and joy to the celebration, featuring delightful performances by our children and youth, a meaningful skit titled “Sandlele Paan” based on the theme “Abide in Me,” and a beautiful choral performance. Each presentation reflected the faith, talents, and enthusiasm of our parish community.
The success of this memorable celebration was made possible through the dedicated efforts of our Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Luis Xavier Gomes, the Golden Jubilee Core Committee, various subcommittees, parish associations, volunteers, and benefactors. Their hard work, cooperation, generosity, and commitment helped make this milestone celebration a grand success.
As we look back with grateful hearts, we thank Almighty God and Fuga Saibinn Mai for their constant love, guidance, and protection throughout these fifty years. We pray that Our Lady of Flight will continue to bless and guide our parish family for generations to come.
This beautiful memories will remain forever in our hearts!
