As St. John of the cross school stepped into its Diamond Jubilee Year, the celebrations commenced with a solemn and grace filled Inaugural Holy Mass on 14th June 2025. The Holy Mass was presided over by His Excellency Auxiliary Bishop Simiao Purificacao Fernandes, was a moment of spiritual reflection and thanksgiving for 60 glorious years of service to edication and humanity.
Several clergy including the Manager of our school Rev. Fr. Velson Fernandes, Former Manager of our school Rev. Fr. Luis Menezes, Priests from the Diocesan Society of Education Rev.Fr. Mariano Dias and Rev. Fr. Joism De Souza, Redemptorists priests, Priests from Bicholim Deanery, Redemptorists Seminarians, Staff members, Ex-Teachers, students, alumni, benefactors, parents, invited guests and parishioners also took part in this Eucharistic celebration. The theme for the Eucharistic Celebration was , “My soul glorifies the Lord.”
This was followed by a welcome song by the students in the main school building. The 60th Anniversary logo was unveiled at the hands of His Excellency Bishop Simiao Purificacao Fernandes and Rev. Fr. Mariano Dias and the Theme song was played.
His Excellency Bishop Simiao Purificacao Fernandes inaugurated and blessed all the classrooms on the second floor. He also interacted with the students.
The entire programme was telecasted live through the Smart Televisions installed in all the classrooms.
The activities for the Diamond Jubilee of the school have set the ball rolling.

SAO JOAO: The celebration began with a meaningful prayer service remembering the significance of St.John the Baptist. A skit was enacted by the students on the story of St.John the Baptist and how it is celebrated in Goa. The students of all faith wore floral crowns. The teachers and the students sang the ‘Viva San Joao’ song. Kopel making competition was conducted on this occasion.
SAVE BLOOD SAVE LIFE: As a part of 60 years of our school, our first event – Blood Donation camp was organised on 28th June 2025 in the school auditorium in collaboration with the North Goa District Hospital Mapusa.
There were a total number of 34 blood donors who voluntered to donate blood for a good cause which included 14 staff members of our school who donated blood. The staff members requested to have the blood donation camp every year.
An appreciation certificate was presented to all the donors.
VANAMAHOTSAV – A CELEBRATION OF NEW HOPE : Combining the joy of Diamond Jubilee with the commitment nurturing the nature we celebrated Vanamahotsav week from 1st July to 7th July 2025. For the whole week we had special assembly programmes on various themes with various activities. We had the Poetry recitation competition and Poster making competition.
Tree plantation drive was organised on 7th July 2025. The Chief Guest Mrs.Siddhi Prabhu Porob the Chairperson of the Sanquelim Municipal Council,Headmaster Sir Sunil Thomas, PTA Chairman Mr.Riyaz Khan, Teachers-Mrs.Perpetua Avileli, Mrs.Gauri Garde, Mrs.Trupti Naik, Ms.Susanna Lobo, NCC Officer Sir Mukund Gad, Eco Club members , Actizen members, NCC cadets, parents and alumni planted 60 flowering,fruit bearing, medicinal and ornamental saplings at the Sanquelim garbage treatment plant.
Saplings were also distributed to the nearby community and to the school students.
