Schools Across Goa Celebrate Van Mahotsav with Green Spirit, Creativity & Purpose

Goa’s schools came alive with colour, creativity, and commitment as they celebrated Van Mahotsav 2025, promoting environmental awareness, sustainable living, and creative activities. Following are the highlights from different schools:

1. Holy Cross High School, Bastora: Wings of wonder, seeds of hope, and green thumbs galore! Holy Cross High School, Bastora, Van Mahotsav celebration was a symphony of learning and fun. Students of Std. 5-6 soared into the world of Goa’s biodiversity with Mr. Omkar Dharwadkar, crafting bird masks that brought their feathered friends to life. Seed bombs bloomed into possibility with Std. 7, while Std. 8’s Kokedama creations nurtured their green thumbs. Std. 9-10 harvested knowledge on Hydroponics with Mr. Sean D’silva’s expert guidance. As the celebration concluded, young minds took flight, forever connected to the natural world.

2. Holy Spirit Institute, Margao, launched a year-long tree-planting drive under “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam”, featuring themed assemblies, eco-competitions, and sapling distribution supported by the Forest Department.

3. Our Lady of Rosary High School, Fatorda, conducted skits, dances, and the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” activity, encouraging students to plant saplings with their mothers and nurture them at home.

4. St. Thomas High School, introduced innovative QR-tagged saplings, a kitchen garden, and awareness performances, supported by the Forest Department’s sapling distribution.

5. Mount Mary’s Higher Secondary School, Chinchinim celebrated with the theme “Plant a Tree, Plant Hope”. The Manager and Principal planted saplings, and students participated in a seed bomb activity to support reforestation.

These celebrations echoed a shared message: plant today, protect tomorrow—instilling a lifelong love and responsibility for nature in every student.
